A Visit From Harold the Giraffe

Our day started with a visit to the Life Ed van. It was a super interesting lesson and we learned many new facts about healthy food and energy.

The outline of the lesson:

  • The focus was on the body’s need for a balanced diet.
  • The food pyramid and what a balanced diet is and why we need it.
  • We were involved with sorting food out into the three levels of the food pyramid to help show our greater understanding of a balanced diet.

Key Messages: We need a balanced diet to give us lots of energy. Food gives us energy when we eat it.

Our ANZAC special continue...

After the students asked all their burning questions about ANZAC day,  it was time to put their newly gathered information to the test. Writing was at the top of the list. ( Yeh!)
Here is what three of our students wrote about ANZAC.

Today a few Room 9 and 10 students were wearing a Poppy in memory of ANZAC day.

Our ANZAC special

First of all...
Welcome back to Term 2. Hope you all had a well deserved break and is ready for a term packed with learning activities for the students.
We started the week by learning about ANZAC day at what it means for us as New Zealanders. The students were fascinated with the stories and clips we watched.

Here is something special that Miss Glen shared with us today...

After visiting my elderly Nana yesterday after school, I wanted to find out more about her Father and his experiences during the First World War.
It was incredible to see the medals, photos and postcards from my Great Grandfather she had kept. Room 9 & 10 came together today to hear a memoir written by my Nana about her Father and to see the amazing treasures she had kept. Here they are below...

Thank you, Miss Glen!
